Winter Check In

Writer: twistedtreeyogatwistedtreeyoga

Hey friends, how are you doing? No, honestly. How are you?

If you ask me, this year has already been a bit of a doozy. And I can't put into words how much my yoga practice has helped me along the way.

When the world feels a bit hectic, I know that I carry calm in my heart. When it feels like sanity is starting to slip away from me, I know that my grounding breath can connect me.

I have been making sure to get fresh air, chat with friends, listen to music I love, and have frequent kitchen dance parties with my family. I take a moment to admire the colors of the sunrise, and am sure to look up at the stars in the night sky. All of these small things might seem like "no big deal" but when I can add them all up, it ensures that my heart remains full of gratitude and love. Like celebrating these tiny joys is an act of rebellion. So my friends, be rebelious and make room for joy and gratitude.

The Magic is in the Details!

The new studio at Lakeview Center is stocked with props! There are fresh cork blocks to bring the floor closer to you, long sturdy straps to help deepen your forward folds, large bolsters to support your restful poses, blankets for a cozy cushion, foam blocks for soft support, and yoga mats in case you forget yours at home.

I just love the view at the LVC Yoga Studio!

Let the Light Shine In

One of the things I love most about this space is the windows. We are able to stay cozy and warm in the studio observing the beautiful world outside.

The fluctuating temperatures has meant that the lake is always changing. There were times that the wind caused ripples to freeze on the surface of the ice. And days when there were small circles left unfrozen, like little swimming holes for the many birds.

Sometimes there are geese, seagulls or ducks visiting the lake. Other times I see people walking their dogs, out for a stroll. Every day there is something new to notice.

No two days are the same, and I am so grateful for the ever-changing scenery at Lakeview Center.
